CHIEF OF GENERAL HEADQUARTERS REFUTES INFORMATION ON ARMENIAN ARMY NUMERICAL STRENGTH REDUCTION

YEREVAN, February 24. /Mediamax/. The Chief of the General headquarters of the Armed forces, first deputy defense minister of Armenia, Lieutenant-General Michael Harutiunian named “groundless” the information about the coming reduction of the numerical strength of the Armenian army.
Harutiunian said today in the interview to “Hayots Ashkhar” paper that the present numerical strength of the Armenian armed forces is optimum for fulfilling the set tasks.
The Chief of the General headquarters noted that the political instability of the region “compels us not to change the present numerical strength of the army”. Lieutenant-General M. Harutiunian voiced his confidence that the question of reduction of the numerical strength of the Armenian army will arise only after the settlement of regional political problems. –0–
