EU “TROIKA” HAS ARRIVED IN YEREVAN

YEREVAN, February 20. /Mediamax/. The “Troika” of the European Union – Foreign Minister of Sweden Anna Lindh, the EU High Representative of the Common Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana, and the EU Commissioner responsible for External Relations, Chris Patten, arrived in Yerevan today.
Anna Lindh stated in the Yerevan “Zvartnots” airport that the visit of the “Troika” is aimed at demonstrating EU’s interest in the South Caucasian region, as well as to support the process of peace talks over Karabakh dispute. The foreign Minister of Sweden noted that the opening of TRACECA office in Baku is to increase the EU presence in the region.
The EU High Representative of the Common Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana said that at the talks with the Armenian leadership, questions of regional security will be discussed among others. –0–
