Armenian women live longer than men

Head of Census and Demography Department at the RA National Statistical Service Karine Kuyumjyan said that the life expectancy is 73.9 years in Armenia, according to 2009 data.

“We do not possess final data for 2010 concerning the life expectancy,” Kuyumjyan told journalists.

According to her, in Yerevan, the life expectancy for men and women is 70.6 and 77 years respectively; in Shirak – 67.3 and 73.8 years; in Lori – 67.9 and 74.4 years.

Kuyumjyan noted that the index of life expectancy in Armenia is higher compared to CIS member states, but lower than in European countries.
