Raffi Besalyan to participate in Wisconsin’s Premiere Pianists in Concert

Armenian-born Raffi Besalyan will be featured as Northeast Wisconsin Piano Teachers' Forum presents the final concert of the season in its "Wisconsin's Premiere Pianists in Concert" series.

The performance is at 7:30 p.m. May 14 at Nativity of Our Lord Church, 2270 S. Oneida St. Ashwaubenon.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.

The program includes works by Vartapet Komitas, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Franz Joseph Haydn, Frederic Chopin, George Gershwin, Franz Liszt and Maurice Ravel.

Besalyan has performed in North and South America, Europe, Russia and Asia as a recitalist, orchestral soloist and chamber musician.

He studied at Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory, Rowan University the Manhattan School of Music in New York with legendary American pianists Byron Janis.

In 2008, Besalyan joined the faculty of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where he is artist/teacher-associate professor of piano.

The forum's recitals raise funds to provide music scholarships to local students, greenbaypressgazette.com reported.
