07.02.2001, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The National Assembly of Armenia passed today at the first reading the amendments to “TV and Radio” Law.
Chairman of the parliamentary commission for science and education issues Shavarsh Kocharian said the commission and the government have agreed on the number of members of the National Commission, regulating the work of private TV and radio companies. Kocharian said the number of commission members ( 9 ) will remain unchanged, but 7 members of the commission, except the chairman and his deputy, will work on a voluntary basis, without remuneration.
The government suggested reducing the number of National commission members from 9 to 5 in order to save budget expenses. –0–
