26.01.2001, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The Prime Minister of Armenia Andranik Margarian received the Syrian Ambassador to Armenia Hammed Hassan, Mediamax was informed in the press service of the government of Armenia.
Armenian Premier congratulated the Ambassador on starting his diplomatic mission in Armenia and hoped the joint work will promote the development of bilateral relations and closeness of the two peoples.
Hassan thanked the Armenian Premier for the warm reception and forwarded the greetings and kind regards of the Syrian Prime Minister Muhammad Mustafa Miro, as well as the official letter on granting Armenia 10 thousand tons of wheat and 500 tons of potato seeds as humanitarian assistance for alleviating the affects of draught.
Armenian Prime Minister thanked the Premier of Syria for the assistance and noted that Syria is one of the first countries to respond to Armenian government’s request.
During the meeting the parties noted that trade-economic and scientific-technical bilateral cooperation has expanded greatly for the past two years and has perspectives for further development. In this context the interlocutors stressed the importance of holding in Syria the second meeting of the Armenian-Syrian intergovernmental commission, which, according to PM Margarian, will bring the bilateral cooperation to new level. -0-
