Induced abortion is highly undesirable, a gynaecologist at Armenian–American Mammography Center stated, advising to take every precaution to prevent that step.
As Nelly Avagyan told a news conference in Yerevan, family planning is one of the ways to prevent unwanted pregnancies. Ms. Avagyan recommended a two-year break between the pregnancies to allow the mother's body to fully recover.
“Abortion can lead to highly unwanted consequences. If a woman never gave birth, the first abortion can deprive her of a chance for motherhood,” the expert stressed.
As Anna Badalyan, a psychologist at Motherhood in Armenia Center, noted, in turn, abortion may have serious psychological and physiological effects on a woman.
