BROADCASTING OF RUSSIAN ORT TV CHANNEL IS STOPPED IN ARMENIA

20.01.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The broadcasting of the Russian ORT TV channel is stopped in Armenia since today, January 20. The reason is that ORT administration refused to pay the debt for the channel broadcasting in Armenia and to sign a new agreement for 2001.
As Mediamax was informed, the leaders of the Russian “RTR” State TV channel agreed to pay the 200 thousand U.S. dollars debt, which has accumulated since 1998, and to sign a new contract for 2001. Thus, RTR TV company will continue its broadcasting in Armenia at metric frequency.
As regards ORT, the Ministry of Transport and Communication of Armenia didn’t exclude that the further broadcasting of this channel in Armenia may be realized at decimeter frequency. -0-
