ARMENIAN PROPAGANDA DEFEATS TURKEY, TURKISH JOURNALIST THINKS

19.01.2001, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Senior Turkish journalist Mehmet Ali Birand thinks Turkish passive informational and propaganda policy has caused the recent recognition of the Armenian Genocide by a number of European countries.
“Nowadays, ask any Frenchman and he will say he believes the Turks butchered the Armenians. They have always read this in their schoolbooks. They have grown up with films, songs and books written by Armenians or foreign experts thought to be neutral”, says Birand’s article, issued today in Turkish Daily News.
“While the Armenians have produced 26,000 works, statements and reports world wide, the number of texts defending Turkey’s view amounts to some 2000-3000”.
“Let us properly and honestly open our archives. Let us show we have nothing to be afraid of. Let’s bring academicians together and set up a commission. Let’s invite proponents of the Armenian claims to sit on it as well. Let’s publish the results to the world”, Turkish journalist wrote. –0–
