19.01.2001, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. In connection with the 1700th anniversary of the adoption of Christianity in Armenia as state religion, which is celebrated this year, church construction has activated in Nagorno Karabakh.
As the head of Artsakh diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosian told Mediamax, 19 churches were constructed and restored in Karabakh since the renaissance of the diocese in 1989, among them Gandzasar monastery, Churches of Amaras and Dadivank, Ghazanchetsots Church in Shushi and others, which are of great historical-architectural value.
The Children’s Christian center and a new church are functioning in Martakert, the church of St. Nerses the Great is being constructed in Martuni. Church construction is expected in Askeran as well. -0–
