Samsung to release Galaxy S III, 4G Galaxy Tab in H1 2012

Even though the Samsung Galaxy S II was just released, Samsung insiders have already tipped that the next iteration of the line, the Samsung Galaxy S III, will be released in the first half of 2012, along with a 4G-capable Samsung Galaxy Tab, according to Geek.com

The President of Samsung’s mobile devision, J.K. Shin, said that H1 2012 will be big for Samsung, and that we can expect new devices then, even though they’re very happy with the sales of the Galaxy S 2 and the interest in the 8.9-inch and 10.1-inch versions of the Galaxy Tab.

The Galaxy S II broke records in Asia after it was released, selling over a million in South Korea within the first month on store shelves, and 120,000 of those handsets within the first three days. It doesn’t hurt that South Korea is home territory for Samsung, so take those numbers with a grain of salt.

Even though the Galaxy S II has been selling well in the countries where it’s available, the phone hasn’t made a North American debut just yet, and many EU countries haven’t seen it either. Rumors put it around Q3 in the United States, which – if Chin’s comments are correct, would put the availability of the Galaxy S II less than 6 months away from the launch of the Galaxy S III.
