HEARINGS ON THE CASE OF THE TERRORIST ACT AGAINST NKR PRESIDENT PROCEED

09.01.2001, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The regular court session on the trial of the terrorist act against NKR president Arkadi Ghukasian is held today in Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
As Mediamax correspondent reports from Stepanakert, two more witnesses were cross-examined at the session. One of them, deputy commander of NKR Defense Army on armament, Vyacheslav Husnunts stated in particular that no special recording of unregistered weapon was carried out, as there was no such order by the commander, i.e. Samvel Babayan. Thus Husnunts actually denied the statements of Leonid Babayan, the ex head of rocket-artillery armament of the Karabakhi army.
Defendant Eric Faramazian confirmed his statements he made during the preliminary investigation, excluding the part where he had said that the terrorist act was committed on the instruction of his brother-in-law, the ex defense minister Samvel Babayan. The defendant stated that the preparation for the attempt upon the life of the president he carried out together with Sasun Aghajanian. Among the co-participants Faramazian named Levon Mirzoyan, David Gulian and Varuzhan Melkumian.
Defendant David Gulian entirely confirmed the contents of the April 4, 2000 protocol of testimony verification at the place of the accident. He admitted that he provided the leaving of the direct executors of the terrorist act from the place of the accident and instructed his relative to burn the mask and gloves used during the realization of the crime.
The trial proceeds. -0-
