10.01.2001, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Today the Foreign Minister of Armenia Vardan Oskanian received the delegation of the German Bundestag headed by deputy chairman of the Union of Christian-Democratic and Christian-Social factions Folker Ruhe, Mediamax was informed in the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Armenia.
The sides noted the importance of regional economic cooperation and discussed its perspectives. At Ruhe’s request Minister Oskanian presented the current stage of peace settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
When asked by Bundestag representative about Turkey’s role in the region Oskanian said that up to present Turkey’s position regarding Armenia not only didn’t help the conflict resolution but also hampered establishing atmosphere of security and trust in the region.
The interlocutors also touched upon Russia’s role in the region. Minister Oskanian noted that Russia plays important and positive role in the matter of preserving peace and stability in the Southern Caucasus. -0-
