28.12.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Today NKR ex defense minister Samvel Babayan, accused of organizing the terrorist act against NKR President, was again cross-examined at the court session in Stepanakert.
As the correspondent of Mediamax reports, Samvel Babayan denied his April 3 statements concerning the order to realize the attempt upon the life of NKR President. The defendant motivated his refusal by the fact that he was unaware of what he was saying and doing at the moment of giving the testimony.
S. Babayan confirmed the statement he gave during the preliminary investigation concerning the fact that since 1994 certain amount of weapon and ammunition wasn’t registered in two military units of NKR Defense Army by his order. It was mainly captured weapon, which was later transferred to Msmna village by his command and concealed in his own house. Babayan said that Sasun Aghajanian, accused of being the direct executor of the terrorist act, was not informed about the weapon transfer.
S. Babayan confirmed that on April 18 he invited Sasun Aghajanian to his place in order to discuss the question of dismissing his personal guards and taking back their weapon. According to Babayan, this was the only subject of their conversation. In this connection S. Aghajanian refuted Babayan’s words, declaring that he hasn’t been at the latter’s place. -0-
