14 BIG ENTERPRISES TO BE PRIVATIZED IN ARMENIA IN 2001

28.12.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. 14 big enterprises will be privatized in Armenia in 2001, the Minister for state property management of Armenia David Vardanian said in the interview to Mediamax.
Among them the Minister singled out Yerevan hotel complex “Dvin”, cement factories of Ararat and Hrazdan, industrial enterprises “Armsteklo”, “Armavirsteklo”, “Artiktuf”, “Mars”, “Armelektromash”, Gyumri textile works.
Vardanian noted that the country lacks legal mechanisms to control the activity of the privatized objects. He said that free purchase of shares in fact releases the owners from carrying out any obligations. In this connection the ministry is going to realize in 2001-2003 the privatization of all the enterprises on competitive basis, which “will provide implementation of the contract by the new owners”, the minister said. -0-
