Daimler AG (DAI)’s Mercedes-Benz Cars sales rose 7.4 percent in May to 118,931 vehicles, led by growth in Brazil, Russia, India and China, the company said in an e-mailed statement on June 6, Bloomberg reported.
The carmaker wants to sell more than 1.3 million Mercedes-Benz cars and smart fortwo in 2011, Joachim Schmidt, executive vice president of sales and marketing, said.
In China, brand sales increased 43% to 16,401 cars in May. U.S. brand sales rose 1.8% to 18,886 whereas German sales declined by 0.2% to 24.647.
