EU TOP OFFICIALS TO VISIT ARMENIA IN FEBRUARY 2001

The Secretary General of the Council of European Union Javier Solana, head of EU committee for foreign affairs Chris Patton and Foreign Minister of Sweden (chairing EU) Anna Lindh will visit Armenia in February 2001, Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian said today at a press conference in Yerevan.
Minister Oskanian noted that during this visit Armenia expects an answer to the question whether the Southern Caucasian states may be considered, even in far perspective, as possible members of the European Union.
Armenia is going to activate its relations with the European Union in 2001, Oskanian said. He didn’t exclude that Armenian President Robert Kocharian may visit Brussels in 2001, where perspectives of development of relations between Armenia and the EU will be considered. -0-
