21.12.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. “This year was a period of serious trials for the Armenian statehood”, “Dashnaktsutyun” party Supreme Body representative, deputy of the Armenian National Assembly Armen Rustamian said in the interview to Mediamax.
The first part of the year was marked by the imprint of last October 27 tragic events. The urgent task of the government, formed after the parliament assassinations, was to provide domestic political stability, the deputy said. In Rustamian’s opinion, Aram Sarkisian’s cabinet coped with this task. Yet, the government mainly focused on the October crime investigation, and this in fact paralyzed the government’s activity in other spheres, Rustamian said.
In the second half of 2000 some problems aroused, caused by the uncertainty concerning the future of “Unity” bloc, which has the majority in the parliament.
“In fact, in the first nine months of 2000 the country lacked normal working conditions, and only the last three months inspire some hope for positive changes in 2001”, Armen Rustamian stressed. -0-
