THE TRIAL OF NKR EX DEFENSE MINISTER TO BE RESUMED

15.12.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Today, December 15, the resumption of court hearings on the case of the March 22 terrorist act against NKR President is expected. The main accused is the ex defense minister of Nagorno Karabakh Lieutenant-General Samvel Babayan.
As Suren Alexanian, presiding over the trial, informed Mediamax, the complex medical, psychological and mental examination of accused Sasun Aghajanian, accused of being the direct executor of the terrorist act, is completed. According to the judge, in accord with the examination conclusion S. Aghajanian is capable of taking part in the court hearings.
The break in the process was announced on November 8 upon the request of the counsel of the defense, who asked to carry out another complex examination of Aghajanian, who neither spoke nor reacted to what was going on in the courtroom
The trial of the accused of the March 22 terrorist act against NKR president Arkadi Ghukasian began in Stepanakert on September 18. The main accused of the case is NKR ex defense minister Lieutenant-General Samvel Babayan. There are 16 persons involved in the case. -0-
