AZERBAIJAN IS NOT PREPARING FOR WAR, VILAYAT GULIYEV SAID

04.12.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. “We are not preparing for war with Armenia”, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Vilayat Guliyev said in the interview to Mediamax.
Commenting upon calls for the necessity of war resolution of Karabakh conflict, voiced recently in Baku, Guliyev said: “Nagorno Karabakh factor is some kind of a springboard to power both in Armenia and Azerbaijan. Power-striving forces speak about the possibility of military resolution”.
Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan stressed that Azeri President Heydar Aliyev speaks for only peace settlement of the conflict. “We think that there still remain mechanisms to resolve the problem peacefully”, Guliyev said.
Azeri Foreign Minister said hat it was very bold and responsible of Kocharian and Aliyev to start their direct dialogue. But both Armenia and Azerbaijan are short of time. Obviously this can’t last for good. The final settlement of the conflict becomes more urgent with every year. We have very little time left, and we must use it properly”, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan said. -0-
