Within the framework of the European neighborhood program Armenia had to introduce use of biometric passports yet at the end of 2011, according to Deputy Chief of RA Police Arthur Osikyan.
Polish Security Printing Works company became winner of the tender for production of biometric passports.
Osikyan said that the company assumes responsibilities to implement the program within near 180 days, and in 40 days, that is, in the first quarter of 2012, citizens of Armenia may receive biometrical passports.
