13.11.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Today, the Armenian Prime Minister Andranik Margarian introduced to the staff of the Armenian Finance and Economy Ministry the newly appointed minister Vardan Khachatrian.
The Prime Minister thanked the ex-minister Levon Barkhoudarian for his activity and stressed that the government will undoubtedly use his experience and potential. Margarian stressed that while heading one of the key departments of the government in a very complicated from the economic point of view period of time Mr. Barkhoudarian “had to shoulder all inconveniences and critics.”
The Prime Minister also stressed that after the structural reforms in the government, the finance and economy ministries were united into a single department which had to pay more attention to the financial issues than to economic ones.
Introducing the newly appointed minister, the Prime Minister of Armenia said that Vardan Khachatria is an experienced specialist and expressed confidence that he will manage to settle all the task the ministry is facing.
Before being appointed to the post of minister Vardan Khachatrian was the chairman of the parliamentary commission for budget, monetary and credit issues. Earlier Khachatrian took the post of head of the financial department of the Defence Ministry of Armenia. –0–
