PSYCHIATRISTS FROM ARMENIA ARE INVITED TO STEPANAKERT TRIAL

06.11.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Today the trial of the terrorist act against RNK President in Stepanakert began with the solicitation of Sasun Aghajanian’s lawyer, Edward Aghajanian. Sasun Aghajanian is accused of being the direct executor of March 22 terrorist act.
The lawyer appealed to the court to announce a break at the trial until testimonies of the doctors, who realized Aghajanian’s mental examination in Armenia, are heard. Other lawyers support E. Aghajanian. In their opinion, doctors’ testimonies will clear up the question of Sasun Aghajanian’s ability to participate in the trial. The request of the defense was complied with.
Two specialists from Armenian Nubarashen hospital are invited. The trial will be resumed after they arrive in Stepanakert.
S. Aghajanian keeps silent at the trial, neither speaks nor responds to what is going on in the courtroom, while psychiatric examination has declared him responsible and able to give testimony.
The trial of the case of the March 22 terrorist act against RNK President Arkady Ghukasian began on September 18 in Stepanakert. The main accused of the case is RNK ex defense minister, Lieutenant-General Samvel Babayan. -0-
