U.S. TOP OFFICIAL SAID THAT ARMENIA AND AZERBAIJAN HAVE AGREED ON A WHOLE NUMBER OF QUESTIONS

01.11.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The Counselor to the US Secretary of State for Newly Independent States Steven Sestanovich and the US co-chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group Carey Cavanaugh met today in Yerevan with the Armenian President Robert Kocharian. The meeting lasted more than two hours.
After the meeting Steven Sestanovich said that they’ve discussed a wide range of questions with President Kocharian: regional problems, the Karabakh conflict settlement, bilateral Armenian-American economic cooperation, cooperation in the area of non-proliferation of mass destruction weapon.
The American diplomat noted that at the meeting in Vienna the co-chairmen of the OSCE Minsk group discussed questions, upon which certain agreement is reached between the sides of the conflict and which will be discussed at the OSCE ministers meeting. Sestanovich refused to specify the questions, upon which agreement is achieved, referring to the confidential character of the agreements. -0-
