TALKS ABOUT TERRITORIAL SWAP ARE POLITICAL SPECULATIONS, VISE-SPEAKER OF ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT SAID

25.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. “Talks about territorial swap have become the subject of political speculations,” Tigran Torossian, the Vice-Speaker of the Armenian parliament said to journalists.
According to Torossian, nobody rejects that there were talks about territorial swap between Armenia and Azerbaijan. “However, the President and all the political forces of Armenia announced that they reject this proposal,” Torossian said. He expressed confidence that discussion of the theme on the swap harms the interests of Armenia. “While considering the circumstance that anyone today intends to discuss this version one may conclude about the goals pursued by the authors of such statements,” Torossian said.
On October 18 Ashot Manucharian stated at the press conference that the Armenian Prime Minister Vazgen Sargssian and the Speaker of the parliament Karen Demirchian were murdered in the parliament October 27, 1999 because of their discord with the plan on territorial exchange between Armenia and Azerbaijan. –0–
