20.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. “We welcome the decisiveness of Armenian authorities to realize economic reforms”, said today World Bank Regional Director Judy O’Connor at a press conference in Yerevan.
According to Mrs. O’Connor, the strategic program for struggle against poverty will become the basis for long-term financial assistance on the part of the World Bank, IMF and donor-states of Armenia.
WB Regional Director said that problems caused by the continuous summer drought were discussed at the meetings of the government of Armenia and the representatives of the donor-states. The amount of the financial assistance, to be allotted in this connection by the World Bank, is not specified yet. It’s is known that WB will allot US$1.5 million for seeds purchase. -0-
