THREE ARMENIAN REFUGEES FROM AZERBAIJAN WENT ON A HUNGER-STRIKE

19.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Three of 12 Armenian refugees from Azerbaijan, who have been picketing the UN office on Yerevan during last 20 days, went on a hunger-strike today.
As one of the hunger-strikers told the correspondent of MEDIAMAX, they are going to continue the hunger-strike until their demands are fulfilled. The refugees demand to provide their departure from Armenia, arguing this by absence of bare necessities. Other refugees are also going to join them in the nearest future.
A few days ago representative of United Nations High Commissar for Refugees (UNHCR) Tomas Birat directed an official note to the refugees saying that UNHCR can’t provide their moving from Armenia as this contradicts the regulations of the organization.-0-
