THE RUSSIAN PREMIER WILL DISCUSS PERSPECTIVES OF “CAUCASUS STABILITY PACT ” IN TURKEY

19.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Kasyanov will discuss perspectives of the “Caucasus Stability Pact” with Ankara representatives in the course of his visit to Turkey, which starts on October 23.
Caucasus Stability Pact was first proposed by former Turkish President Suleyman Demirel.
As Turkish Daily News reports, this said Ambassador of Russia to Turkey Alexander Lebedev. He said that the Russian premier will meet with the Turkish president Ahmet Necdet Sezer and prime minister Bulent Ecevit, as well as ministers of defense and energy of Turkey.
Lebedev said Kasyanov will go to Samsun on October 24 to see the progress on the Blue Stream project which is planned to transfer Russian gas to Turkey through the Black Sea bottom. Lebedev said an agreement on electricity is also expected to be signed that will enable Turkey to import electricity from Russia through Georgia. -0-
