The value of the European Union's imports from Iran has witnessed a 9% increase during the first half of 2011, Eurostat said in its latest report.
According to Eurostat estimates, the 27-member bloc has imported 7 billion euros worth of goods from Iran during the first 6 months of 2011, and the figure shows a 9% increase compared with the same period last year. The report added that the value of trade ties between Tehran and the EU amounted to 12 billion euros during the said period.
Head of Iran's Customs Office Abbas Memarnejad said that the value of Iran's trade exchanges with the other world countries amounted to $23.7bln in the first three months of the current Iranian year (started on March 21), showing a 14.5% growth compared with the same period last year.
Iranian officials have underscored that Iran has the capability to further decrease the role of oil in its budget revenues, and announced Tehran's plans to boost non-oil exports to $45bln this year, Fars News Agency reported.
According to official reports, Iran's non-oil products are exported to 160 countries of the world. China, Iraq, United Arab Emirates, India, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan, Taiwan, the Republic of Korea and Belgium are the main destinations and markets of the Iranian products.
