14.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Speaking in Strasbourg with representatives of the Ministers Committee of the Council of Europe, the Foreign Minister of Armenia Vardan Oskanian said that Armenia is not against being accepted to the Council of Europe simultaneously with Azerbaijan.
As was reported to MEDIAMAX in the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, V. Oskanian said that all the problems dealing with Azerbaijan’s membership must not affect the terms of Armenia’s acceptance into the Council of Europe. The Foreign Minister of Armenia called on the Council of Europe to consider each candidate-state “according to its democracy level”.
At the meeting of Foreign Minister of Armenia Vardan Oskanian and Secretary General of the Council of Europe Walter Schwimmer the sides expressed the hope that Armenia will have no problems in being accepted to the Council of Europe. –0–
