11.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. On October 12 the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II will visit Egypt on the invitation of the leader of the Egyptian Orthodox Church Shnud III, was reported to MEDIAMAX in the press office of Holy Echmiadzin.
After his 5 days’ visit to Egypt, Garegin II will leave for Ethiopia on the invitation of the head of the Ethiopian Church Abun Pauls.
The Armenian Catholicos will meet with spiritual leaders of different churches and religions, as well as Egyptian officials. Garegin II will visit Sheikh Al Azari in his residence. It is expected that Armenian Catholicos will also meet with Mufti of Egypt. In Greek patriarchy of Alexandria Garegin II will meet with the Greek Orthodox Patriarch Peter VIII.
In Cairo Garegin II will have meetings with representatives of the Armenian Diaspora; he will also visit Armenian Embassy.
President of the National Science Academy of Armenia Fadey Sarkisian, as well as leaders of the Armenian dioceses are accompanying the Armenian Catholicos.
The delegation headed by the Catholicos will return to Armenia on October 22.-0-
