10.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. A seminar was held today in Yerevan under the auspices of Chief Education directorate of the Council of Europe, dedicated to the project of making a joint textbook on the history of the Caucasus by the historians of Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
It is expected that the historians of Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan will write the chapters dedicated to the history of each of the states, which will later be generalized in the textbook.
The representative of the CE Chief Education directorate, Alison Cardwell said at the meeting that it’s early yet to speak about the way the regional conflicts will be presented in the book.
Academician Vladimir Barkhudarian told the journalists that he is pessimistic about the possibility of making such a textbook. He said that representatives of the three South Caucasian states should first make books on the national history, acceptable for the neighboring countries, and “only then proceed to the next step”.-0-
