06.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The National-Patriotic Union “Hayots Tun” (“Armenian Home”) issued today a statement saying that the organization starts collecting signatures to appeal to the Parliament of the country to begin the impeachment procedure of the President of the country Robert Kocharian.
“Armenian Home” argues this demand by the circumstance that Robert Kocharian is not the citizen of Armenia, and, consequently, “holds the post of the president of the country illegally”. The statement also notes that the terrorist act in the parliament of Armenia on October 27, 1999, when the Prime Minister and the speaker were killed, “became a coup d’etate, as a result of which Robert Kocharian came to power again”.
Kocharian’s further tenure of office “threatens Armenian statehood”, notes the statement.
“Armenian Home” organization announced of itself several months ago. It has no representatives in the National Assembly of Armenia, carefully conceals the real number of its members, but speaks periodically with such statements. -0-
