ARMENIAN FOREIGN MINISTER NAMED “CONSTRUCTIVE” THE POSITION OF THE RUSSIAN PRESIDENT REGARDING THE KARABAKH ISSUE SETTLEMENT

05.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. “Russia’s role in the Karabakh issue settlement is great, but RF President Putin considers it within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group, parallel with U.S. and French mediatory efforts, which is natural”, stated in the interview to MEDIAMAX Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian, commenting on Putin’s recent statement that Russia doesn’t have any special rights in the process of the Karabakh settlement.
Minister Oskanian noted that he thinks such position of the Russian president is constructive, stressing that Armenia doesn’t feel lately competition in the process of the settlement between the Minsk Group and of its co-chairmen states.
On September 26, during the official visit of the Armenian President to Moscow, Vladimir Putin stressed: “I don’t think Russia has any special rights in the Karabakh conflict settlement. We clearly see the limits Russia must keep to in the process of settlement of any conflicts, including the Karabakh one”. -0-
