ARMENIAN FOREIGN MINISTER DOES NOT EXCLUDE POSSIBLE CLOSING OF AIR CORRIDOR BY TURKEY

05.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. “It is the very wording “genocide” that cause all-Turkish hysteria and makes this state display a rather tough position regarding the discussion of the Armenian Resolution in the US Congress,” the Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian said in an interview to MEDIAMAX.
According to the Foreign Minister any hope for normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations even in long-term perspective will be lost if Turkey resorts to any possible sanctions against Armenia. The Minister did not exclude that Turkey may close the air corridor or stop giving visas to the Armenian citizens.
“If we are sure in soon-to-come normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations it would be easier for us to go for compromises in the process of the Karabakh conflict settlement,” Vartan Oskanian said. –0–
