THE SPEAKER OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF ARMENIA ANNOUNCED ABOUT HIS RESIGNATION

26.09.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Today the regular session of the parliament of Armenia began with the declaration of the speaker of the National Assembly Armen Khachatrian about his resignation.
As it became known to MEDIAMAX from parliamentary sources, some of the deputies rejected this proposal basing on the fact that in accordance with the Constitution of Armenia the speaker of the parliament, who is the second top person after the President in the country, cannot resign during the absence of the President.
