19.09.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. “We will continue to work intensely with the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group and with equal fervor, we are ready to maintain direct contacts with Azerbaijan. However, we think that direct negotiation between Baku and Stepanakert would be more productive, as it is the people of Karabakh who will ultimately determine their own destiny and future”, said Foreign Minister of Armenia Vardan Oskanian at the 55th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
“For us, peace in Nagorno Karabakh is of course the promise of transforming a situation of hostility and confrontation with our neighbor Azerbaijan into one of cooperation and mutually reinforced security “, Oskanian was quoted as saying. “We would like to think of the day when Karabakh is transformed from being a chasm separating our countries to being a bridge built for the benefit of all the populations concerned”, stressed Armenian Foreign Minister. -0-
