THE TRIAL OF RNK EX DEFENSE MINISTER SAMVEL BABAYAN HAS STARTED IN STEPANAKERT

18.09.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The trial of the accused of the terrorist act of March 22 against the RNK president Arkady Ghukasian has started today in Stepanakert. The main accused of the case is the RNK ex defense minister, Lieutenant-General Samvel Babayan, who is accused of organizing a coup d’etat through killing the president of the republic.
The state prosecutor at the process will be the General Prosecutor of RNK, Mavrik Ghukasian. 16 people are involved in this case, however only 15 of them are in the dock, as Sasun Aghajanian, who is considered the direct executor of the terrorist act, is hospitalized and the criminal case toward him has been stopped.
At present the process of acquaintance with the accused is proceeding in court. -0-
