THE GOVERNMENT OF ARMENIA HAS APPROVED THE PROGRAM OF FINANCIAL NORMALIZATION OF ARMENIA’S ENERGY COMPLEX

15.09.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The cabinet of ministers of Armenia approved the program of financial normalization of the energy complex of Armenia for 2000-2002 at the regular session of the government of the country, was reported to MEDIAMAX in the press service of the government.
The program foresees that the responsibility for payments of the used electricity lies not only on direct users, but also on the higher bodies. Moreover, all the privileges for the used electricity granted to the state sector are discontinued, and the giving of new privileges without corresponding bank guarantee is being excluded.
The government expects that this program will help to begin a gradual paying off of the domestic debts. The program also foresees that beginning in 2002 the energy system of Armenia will function without any additional budget and foreign investments.
