ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT VICE-SPEAKER THINKS IT’S EARLY YET TO SPEAK OF THE CHANGE OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY LEADERSHIP

07.09.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. “Today we once again try to clear up our relations with the People’s Party of Armenia and to find adequate solutions”, declared today Armenian National Assembly Vice-Speaker, one of the leaders of the Republican party of Armenia Tigran Torosian in the interview to “Haykakan Zhamanak” paper.
The People’s Party of Armenia is still a part of the “Unity” bloc, and as regards the further development of events, “their results will be clear in the nearest future”, said Torosian.
The vice-speaker of the Armenian parliament refuted rumors concerning the statement, made supposedly by the representatives of the Republican party of Armenia about formation of a new parliamentary bloc. Torosian stressed it was just a wish to cooperate more closely with the parliamentary factions.
The vice-speaker also touched upon the question of possible changes of the leadership of the Armenian parliament, noting that one can speak of possible candidates to the posts of the speaker and vice-speaker only “if these posts are vacant”. -0-
