23.08.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Armenian Government plans to get 45 million dollars provided by SAC-3 and SAC-4 credit programs of the World Bank in end of September-beginning of October 2000, stated Armenian Premier Andranik Margarian today at the press conference dedicated to the 100 days of Government’s activity.
The total sum of the foreign debt of the Republic of Armenia will make 913 million dollars by the end of the year, stated the premier. He noted that by the classification of international financial institutes Armenia’s condition in that connection is assessed as of “average weight”. About 70 per cent of the total amount of the foreign debt constitute advantageous credits which will be paid off during 20-25 years, said Andranik Margarian.
The premier stated that today the government carries on active negotiations about restructuring of debts with the countries that have given intergovernmental credits to Armenia. Such agreement is already achieved with Turkmenistan and the paying off of the credit in the amount of 5 million dollars will be realized in 2001-2004, said Margarian. Analogous negotiations about restructuring of a credit of 2 million dollars are carried on with the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development.
Premier Margarian noted that this year Armenian Government has used credit means in the total amount of 88.9 million dollars. At present more than 20 credit programs are being realized at the expense of these means. -0-
