THE PRESS SECRETARY OF THE PRESIDENT OF ARMENIA REFUTES THE RUMOURS ABOUT AGGRAVATION OF ARMENIAN-RUSSIAN RELATIONS

23.08.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The fact that the meeting of the presidents of Armenia and Russia didn’t take place during the unofficial summit of the leaders of CIS states on August 18 in Yalta, should in no way be considered as aggravation in the Armenian-Russian relations, declared to the journalists the press secretary of the President of Armenia, Vahe Gabrielian.
The Russian “Nezavisimaya Gazeta” paper stressed on August 22 that Vladimir Putin met with all the leaders of CIS states in Yalta (including the presidents of Georgia and Azerbaijan) but the Armenian president .
Yerevan paper “Haikakan Zhamanak”, quoting sources in the foreign ministry of Armenia, reported today that in Yalta the Russian president has had a full bilateral meeting only with his Ukrainian colleague Kuchma. As regards other leaders of CIS states, then, according to the source, there had been just a formal photography of the Russian president with them. -0-
