10 YEARS AGO THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE WAS ADOPTED IN ARMENIA

23.08.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. 10 years ago, on August 23, 1990 the Supreme Council of the Armenian SSR adopted the Declaration of Independence of Armenia.
The President of Armenia addressed the nation in that connection. He said that the adoption of the Declaration of Independence has a special place in the modern history of Armenia. “Displaying the collective will of the Armenian people, the Armenian parliament declared that they are decisive in the matter of forming an independent state, about supporting the process of international recognition of the Genocide of Armenians of 1915 and the necessity of just settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh problem”, said Robert Kocharian.
“10 years – this is not a long period for the full realization of all the aspirations of our nation, reflected in the Declaration of Independence. But at the same time we’ve passed a long way, which affirms that our nation is capable of consistently solving the tasks”, stressed Armenian President. -0-
