10 YEARS AGO, ON AUGUST 23, 1990, THE SUPREME COUNCIL APPROVED THE DECLARATION ABOUT INDEPENDENCE OF ARMENIA

22.08.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Tomorrow, on August 23, will be the 10th anniversary of the day when the Supreme Council of the Armenian SSR approved the Declaration of Independence.
In that connection Prime Minister Andranik Margarian spoke with a special statement in which he noted that “the main principles and approaches that opened the way to the modern, civilized world for us were fixed in the Declaration”, was reported to MEDIAMAX in the press service of the Government of Armenia.
In spite of all the hardships the country experienced during the past 10 years, stated A. Margarian, Armenia and its nation remained true to the main postulate of the Declaration. “Independence has no alternatives”, stressed the head of the Armenian Government. -0-
