01.08.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. In commemoration of the terrorist act in the parliament of Armenia on October 27, 1999, the victims of which became the prime minister and the speaker of the parliament of the country, Yerevan press club will organize an international action – “Journalists against terrorism and violence” on October 22-26, 2000.
As was reported MEDIAMAX in Yerevan press club, it is expected that representatives of mass media of the countries of the region, the USA and Europe, as well as the representatives of NGO-s from Armenia, Transcaucasus, CIS, Europe and the USA will take part in the action.
Within the framework of the action TV programs (film show about terrorism), radio programs, publications in press are planned. A three-day conference will be held, in the course of which reports will be made on the following subjects: “International terrorism and press”, “Local manifestation of violence”, “Violence towards mass media”.
Publica tion of the collection of materials on these subjects in Armenian, Russian and English is expected. A special Web-page will be opened under the heading “Journalists against terrorism and violence”. During the actions a special media centre will be opened. -0-
