01.08.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Due to droughty weather and extreme heat a danger of fire appeared in RNK. This situation was considered at the meeting of the government of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh under the chairmanship of the president of RNK Arkady Ghukasian.
As the correspondent of MEDAMAX reports from Stepanakert, it was stressed at the meeting that during the past week the number of fires has increased, damaging greatly the economy of the country. In Martakert region the fires have destroyed 34.5 hectares of winter-fields (the damage has made up 4.5 million drams), in Askeran region 32 fires were fixed in total, 15 of which took place within the past week, in Hadrut region the fires destroyed 3 hectares of fields and several high-voltage posts, in Martuni region only one of 43 fires caused considerable damage.
The participants of the meeting spoke with concrete proposals on the struggle with the element. Concrete measures on fire prevention were suggested. -0-
