THE RELATIVES OF THE VICTIMS OF THE OCTOBER TERRORIST ACT IN THE ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT WILL SPEAK WITH A STATEMENT ON JULY 17

On July 17 the relatives of the victims of the October terrorist act in the parliament of Armenia will speak with a joint statement devoted to the report of the Military Prosecutor’s Office on the completion of the preliminary investigation on this case. Anahit Bakhshian, the widow of the vice-speaker of the parliament of Armenia Yuri Bakhshian, killed on October 27, 1999 stated this to the journalists.
Mrs. Bakhshian also declared that the relatives of the politicians killed in October 1999 are going to convoke a press conference on July 17. Recently they have repeatedly expressed their discontentment with the course of the investigation, in particular, with the stopping of the criminal cases against the counselor of the president of Armenia Alexan Harutyunian and the vice-director of the National Television of Armenia Harutyun Harutyunian, accused of instigation and assistance to the realization of the terrorist act.
The Military Prosecutor’s office of Armenia declared on July 11 about the completion of the investigation on the case of the terrorist act in the parliament of the country on October 27, 1999, the victims of which became the prime minister of the country Vazgen Sarkisian, the speaker of the parliament Karen Demirchian, vice-speakers Yury Bakhshian and Ruben Miroyan, minister for operative questions Leonard Petrosian and some other deputies of the Armenian parliament. The accusation is brought against 14 people, 5 of which are the immediate executors of the terrorist act – the leader of the group Nairi Hunanian, his brother Karen, their uncle Vram Galstian, as well as Edward Grigorian and Derenik Bejanian. -0-
