NA vice speaker notes poverty, corruption as main oversights of 2011

Armenian National Assembly vice speaker, ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) spokesman Eduard Sharmazanov commented on political outcomes of 2011.

Mr. Sharmazanov noted poverty and corruption as the main oversight and legislative reform implementation as the core achievement of the year.

NA vice speaker underscored development of democracy in the country and political dialogue between government and opposition, expressing hope for 2012 to become a year of civilized political struggle.

Dwelling on foreign policy developments, Sharmazanov attached importance to deepening Armenian-Turkish ties.

Commenting on Armenia’s joining the Eurasian Union, RPA spokesman stressed the country’s readiness for integration processes within CIS area, whilst noting it early to speak about joining the Union.

“Armenia steps into stabilization stage. Despite the current problems, economic growth is noticeable,” Sharmazanov said, dwelling on economic outcomes of the year.
