The director of Regional Studies Center presumes that Russia is the only OSCE Minsk Group co-chair country likely to alter its stance on the Nagorno Karabakh issue.
“Over the last years, Russia's been improving relations with Azerbaijan, also trying to assume leadership in Karabakh talks. Considering Russia's strong presence in Armenia, official Yerevan has too little leverage against Moscow, should it alter its stance in Baku's favor,” Richard Giragosian said.
The expert was critical of Armenia's position in bilateral relations. “Armenia underestimates its value to Russia and exaggerates Russia's value to itself,” he stressed.
