Mobile game maker Rovio has just announced the imminent launch of a new version of its popular mobile game, Angry Birds. Called Angry Birds Space, the game will be out on March 22.
“One small fling for a bird. One quantum leap for birdkind,” reads the blurb on the new game’s website.
The game’s maker, Finland-based Rovio, describes Angry Birds Space as “a completely new game with innovative new gameplay, but with some of the familiar Angry Birds elements that fans already know and love – plus some surprises.”
The company said it’ll be launching the game simultaneously in mobile gaming, animation, retail and publishing, claiming it’ll be the first time a launch of this nature has been done for a mobile game, Digital Trends reported.
Angry Birds was one of the most downloaded apps of last year, and Rovio has already capitalized on its enormous success by creating several spin-off versions – Angry Birds Rio and Angry Birds Seasons. The company also sells merchandise related to the game, and has plans to open some 200 retail stores in China, where the game is also a hit.
